The former president of Hume Bank in Bates County will go to prison for a fraud scheme that pushed the bank into insolvency.

Forty-year-old Jeffrey W. Thompson was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to six years, six months in prison without parole. He also was ordered to forfeit $300,000, or his home. He pleaded guilty last October.

Thompson admitted in his plea that for more than three years he covered up the fraud by lying to bank regulators about problem loans and altering bank records.

Due mostly to bad loans originated by Thompson, the bank was declared insolvent and closed in March 2008. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. insurance fund lost $4.3 million.

I found this article on UFO Digest website about UFO's in Bates County, but when I looked at the pictures I found they were actually located directly over the Butler, MO square.

The article mistakenly identified the town as Bates, MO but I recognized the Southside Cafe and other buildings on the Butler square.

The pictures they had of the UFO were great, they even had information in the story about being abducted  "We were abducted in the fall of 2009"

They also claimed there were "very real very substantial beings not human, prowling about".

I personally have never been abducted, but from what I hear about the probing it can be pretty unpleasant!

I wasn't sure about this story until I met this fella walking the down Orange St. he was kind enough to let me capture his photograph and assured me they are not here to harm us!  They were just checking things out here because they heard we had great places to eat, great deals on real estate and some kick ass rodeos! They said they found Butler when they tuned into KMOE on the radio in the UFO!
