Carthage Police Officer Found Dead in Butler, MO Motel.

Thursday June 11, 2009 Butler Police officers found the body of the deceased Chad Webb a Carthage, MO officer in a room at the Super 8 Motel around 11:46 a.m. As of now no cause of death has been released, but the investigators said they did not expect foul play.

Officer Webb had been employed by the Carthage, MO PD for nine years. He had a wife and two children who will surely miss him.

The Coroner has not yet released autopsy results.

Butler, Mo is the County Seat of Bates County, MO, and the headquarters for the Bates County Sheriffs Department.

Our sincere condolences to our Rich Hill, MO neighbors, Kay Briscoe and her family. Kay's husband Marrion passed away June 1, 2009. Services were held Friday morning at Woodfin Cemetary in Foster, MO.

A man from Belton, MO  beat, kicked and stabbed his family dog to death then burned the dogs body. He then threatened a his girlfriend before leading Police & Sheriffs Deputies on a deadly high speed pursuit that culminated in the death of two men and the serious injury of a 14 year old boy.

The perpetrator Nicholas L Schilling died in the accident involving his 2007 Ford Focus and Joe Nowlin's pickup truck. Nowlin was traveling north on Highway 71 in Bates County, MO, when the accident occurred.

Both drivers were killed and the 14 year old Cayden was taken to Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. A grizzly seen unfolded on 71 Hwy near Butler, MO; as captured on KCTV 5 from Kansas City.

Saturday was beautiful, after a day of working hard putting up hay at the farm in Rich Hill, we drug an old row-boat down to Walnut Creek and slid down the muddy hillside into the water.

My Grandson Cody and my Granddaughter Holly sat aft and fore while I plowed away with the old wooden oars. As we made our way in to the swollen river we found the current was pulling us along pretty well.

Shortly  after coming out of Walnut Creek, we saw several fishermen at the usual spot by the old Haymaker Bridge. They waved as we passed by, trying to stay as far from their lines as we could. We had to work pretty hard to avoid all the trees and debris in the river.

We rounded the curve in the River into the Bates County Drainage ditch and the current slowed a bit. We passed by some folks in a small motor boat, that were kind enough to slow down and say howdy.

About four miles I figure; by river, we wound up pulling ashore at the Bates County Water District pump house. The new facility is almost done. Mostly dry we called my wife to come and get us. Grandpa Milt Enlow and Grandma Sue Enlow came with her to pick us up. The kids and I had a great time sitting on the toolbox in the back of the truck watching the dust kick up behind the trailer. Don't tell anyone but I actually let Cody drive us back. He loves to drive and I figure if it's good enough for Alan Jackson (Drive) it's all right for this thirteen year old too!

We made the trip of roughly four miles by river in about an hour and fifteen minutes. That means with a little rowin' we rode that ol river at about 18.75 miles per hour. 

Not bad for grandpa, but I had some help from the current.

I found this one listed for sale on Craigslist. They stated in the advertisement that they were getting $600 rent for a duplex in Rich Hill, I thought that was currious so I did some reasearch to see what you could rent in Bates County.

Here's what I found :

A 2 bedroom house on 19 acres just outside of Rich Hill $400 Man I know people that would pay that just to have a place to hunt!

A two bedroom duplex for rent in Butler for $350.00

So it would seem that $300 a month is not that far from the norm, I doubt I'd offer them $65,000 but if the property is in good shape it might not be a bad deal at
