I was back down at the farm this week, the septic system my in-laws put in in the 80's was having some problems. I searched for someone in the area but it seems that the closest honey wagon or septic service to Rich Hill is clear down in Nevada, MO.
The folks from Long and Snead were willing to come out the same day I called them and they had a reasonable fee. Septic service is not an easy line of work, the folks that provide these services have a really shitty job.
bates county septic Many Realtors who have not dealt with rural property have no idea what is involved in septic maintenance and more importantly septic inspections that are required for any government back loans, like HUD, VA or USDA. Many lenders also require septic inspections for real estate transfers. These can be deal killers if they fail. Fortunately this was not an inspection but just some routine service. This septic system had been installed in 1985, back then people believed you should seal the clean-out shut.
Bad idea, we had to break through the lid with a sledge hammer to gain access.
The system was completely full of solids, the small tank had was so full that it was bubbling up from the ground near the house.
septic cleaning The situation was pretty ugly, but I put the back hoe attachment on my ol' John Deere and we dug out a new lateral line for the old system. We had to weld up a plate for a cover since we had smashed the old cover in with a sledge hammer. Long days work, but now the toilet flushes with authority! We found that this small tank was likely no bigger than 250 gallons, that's pretty tiny for any house. I guess we will have to have it pumped more often. Anyway if I can help you with your real estate needs please give me a call, and thanks for visiting http://www.batescountyrealestate.com

I had a wonderful day Sunday, our son and daughter in-law came down from Iowa to visit. we went over to The Happy Hill Church of God, to praise and worship Jesus with the family.
I love going to Happy Hill, Ron and his family have such a wonderful gift of music. The grand piano, organ, keyboards and choir of voices fill the church with a joyful noise that fills your soul.
If you like old time gospel or just love Jesus, then come with us next Sunday and sing along.
Ron Dunlap is a great pastor and plays the piano like nobody else. Ron has recently released an album entitled "Jesus, What a Friend". I had to buy a copy so I can listen during the week.
Here is a sample of Ron's music as recorded on his album Hope to see you there! If you need directions please call the church at: 417-395-4346.
From Rich Hill; take MO-Y 4.1 miles, turn left go 1.8 miles, turn right go 2.3 miles and follow the signs to Happy Hill.
Bible study precedes services, there is a children's church also; so bring the whole family! We usually try to get there about 10:00 am.

Now I know I'm a bit of a Johny come lately to blog about this today, The whole world already heard about it from nearly every media source in the world. I was pretty busy this weekend putting up hay and making some repairs around the farm in Rich Hill.
But I was down in Butler Saturday and it looked like business as usual at Max Motors. Granted, there were plenty of folks checking out the place as usual but most of the media circus seemed to have moved on to other stories.
One of the best comments I saw was from some one... in of all places Canada, Irene's Odd World questioned: "What would do they give a customers who purchased a Prius ... a can of mace?"
Well Irene, in Butler, MO and most of Bates County there aren't a lot of Prius's running around. Seems most of the folks 'round these parts prefer something that can travel the rough back roads of the Missouri Prairie. Them silly little electric cars, won't pull a horse trailer or haul a load of seed back to the farm. You can't get your livestock to market in one of those little shoe-boxes! Besides Irene, there ain't any room for my gal to sit in the middle of those little things, down here we like to cruise those old gravel roads with our sweetheart by our side, cozied up!
And yes Irene we do like our guns and our trucks here in God fearin' Middle America! I bought my pretty red Chevy from the boys at Max Motors, and I'll buy my next truck from them too!
I missed out on the sale though, all I got was a truck... But that's OK, I've got plenty of firearms and ammunition already. Seems while we still have that right here in the Good 'Ol USA, I will still be celebrating that freedom. Right along with driving my Truck to church on Sunday with the rest of the good folks of Bates County, MO.
I'm holding out, I'm hoping he offers a Barrett .50!
Come on Mark, I really want a Barrett .50!
