A registered sex offender has been charged in a double homicide and arson in Bates County, the sheriff's department said.

Raymond S. Harvey Jr., 38, is facing two counts of first-degree murder and other charges after two bodies were found Wednesday inside a burning house in rural Bates County.

Raymond Harvey is listed on the Bates County Sheriff's Departments website as a registered sex offender, his profile there is one of the few with out a picture. His address was listed as, Rt. 1 Box 266 A Rich Hill, MO. The site lists his previous offense as Forcible Rape!

Listed as 6' tall, 208 pounds with green eyes and Red or Auburn hair.

BUTLER, Mo. -- Two women were found dead inside a house that was on fire in Butler, Mo., and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Bates County Sheriff's deputies were called to the fire Wednesday, 10 miles west of Butler, where fire officials told them there were two women dead inside the house.

The Missouri state fire marshal and the Missouri State Highway Patrol crime scene unit were called into assist with the investigation.The two victims' names have not been released, and autopsies are being conducted by the Jackson County Medical Examiner.

Funeral services for Marlene Cole of Amoret, Missouri will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Ron Dunlap officiating. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 24 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial, Benjamin Cemetery, Amoret, Missouri. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Amoret Christian Church or the Amoret Community Center. Alvina Marlene Cole, age 70 of rural Amoret, Missouri died in a tragic home fire on Saturday, August 21, 2010. She was born May 9, 1940 at Amoret the daughter of Walter Kelly Ewbank and Thelma Elizabeth Mitts Ewbank.

On April 2, 1963 she was united in marriage to William H. Cole and to this union two children were born. Marlene worked for Jim Rush at the Bank of Amoret and later the BC National Banks in Butler, MO as well as the Butler Monument Company. Her last employment was with Social Services in Nevada, Missouri retiring in 2002.

Marlene is survived by her husband William H. Cole of Amoret; son Don Cole and wife Debbie of Butler; daughter Karen Cole of Marshalltown, Iowa and four grandchildren; Ellis, Hilari, Bethanie and Gabrielle Cole. Also surviving is one sister Helen Millard of Amoret. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Morris Dean Ewbank and sister Wilma Hanson.
